Filming Journel

Day 1

On day one of the filing we decided to film a close up of the footsteps of Baz played by myself running up the stairs. We used the steady cam as we wanted a nice smooth scene of following the footsteps up the stairs. We decided on the type of shoes which would be boots because they made the right sound as I was going up the stairs, and had studs on them adding to the action girl conventions. We thought a close up shot would work perfectly for this shot as it would create tention for the audience as they watch it. on the first day, we decided to change Baz to a girl character because it would be a whole lot easiser in the filing process and not alot had to be chnaged in the script in order to do this. We were alos going to shoot the establiching shots as it was the perfect weather outside, but unfortunatly ran out of time due to the limited time we had.

Day 2

Day two of the filming process come along and we decide that we want to shoot the secretarys (played by vicky) footsteps slowly walking along. We didnt use the steady cam for this shot because we had a problem fitting in her feet into the frame because we couldnt get to the ground low enough. so instead we had to hold the camera very steady as we film vicky walking past. After a few attempts we got the perfect shot we needed, and as we watched back, we noticed the use of lighting complimented the shot nicely, and the contrast between last weeks shot with rushing feet and tracking, to this; where she is justcalmy walking in and then out the shot agian. After this day we were happy with the results we got, but could have used out time more effectively.

Day 3

Day three was the perfect weather conditions to shoot our establishing shots, so thats exactly what we did. as the shot was filmed from a distance upstairs and inside, we had to create signs that we could hold up so we could communicate with each other and know when to shoot, and when not to shoot. we had to get a shot of Baz walking in the rain and then opening a door and coming inside. Our first shot of the day consisted of the one shot out of the window  looking down on Baz which we managed to handle successfully and the drops on the window added a great effect in the shooting. we also shot the same walking scene of Baz but just the legs, using a shakey cam. shot shot consists of Baz walking into the shot and then following her as she gets to the door and opens it. We got all of our establishing shots finished this day, so we are very happy with our progress.

Day 4

On day four we decided to try and get most of our dialogue done, but the first shot we got was of the clock ticking which links in with our idea of the flashback. We also filmed a POV shot of Baz walking through an empty corridor which adds to the tension. We then found an empty classroom which we used as the secretarys office. We had to move a few things round to make is look more like an office. We then filmed a POV shot of Baz opening the door and walking through looking down so all you see is her feet and then looking up. We then had an idea that Baz would look around the office walking past the empty desk finding no-one in there, and then spinning round finding vicky sitting at the desk like shes been there the whole time creating the element of supprise. This took a couple of tries to do, but we managed to do it in the end.

Day 5

On day five we shot most of our dialogue, but as the room that we shot in previously was not empty this time, we had to change the room we were in, to a room that looked very similar. we shot some over the shoulder shots of both Baz and the secretary to allow our viewers to see the faces of the characters more clearly. We shot the realisation shots and deep in thought shots of Baz before she goes into her flashback and after the flashback her reation. Towards the end of our filing time, we decided to shoot some of the flashback. so we went outside and filmed certain shots of vicky chasing Cary from the front, side, and back. we used the shakey cam to get a better action type effect.

Day 6

On day 6 of th shooting, we shot some more of the flashback, which consisted of a closeup on the gunshot. we thought that this worked well, as it added to the mystery because it doesnt show who actually shot the person. We also finished all of the secretarys dialogue, and just the little things such as a close up of vicky taking the gun out of the draw of her desk. we didnt film much this day due to both me and cary being absent. But we got some good footage that we could possibly use in our film.
